Overview on Academic Funding Program
The Academic Funding Program aims to fund high-quality research projects and outstanding talents in the field of artificial intelligence at different levels and through three series of activities: the Research Internship Program, the Faculty Exchange Program and the Seed Fund. Participants can not only receive funding from GAIAA's various talent incentives and cooperative scientific research funds, but also take part in the research projects reserved by GAIAA.
GAIAA is launching the Faculty Exchange Program and the Research Internship Program for the first time this year, opening for professors and PhD students from universities that cooperated with GAIAA. The Academic Funding Program hopes to further strengthen a close relationship among the alliance members through a variety of activities and to create an international platform for future AI cooperation.
Faculty Exchange Program
This program aims at faculty and scholars in the field of AI research in GAIAA member universities, providing exchange opportunities to targeted scientific research institutions; In addition, the program also provides a 'Speaker Platform' for visiting scholars from GAIAA member universities; Visiting scholars can visit each other's universities and participate in joint lectures, academic exchanges, etc.
Research Internship Program
This program aims at third year and above doctoral students in GAIAA member universities, providing a research internship opportunity of industry-academia-research where every student can share exclusive data resources and rich experimental computing power to experience working in first-class laboratory and involve in the major frontier projects and basic theoretical research of AI.
Academic Funding Program 2022 Will Center Around the Research Internship Program and the Faculty Exchange Program

Project Supports
1. AI Research project provided by GAIAA: Data collection, Translation, Consumables, Reasonable expense for seminars and panels.
2. Exchanging opportunities to GAIAA partner universities, institutions and enterprise.
3. Joint publications, Research scholarships, Visas and Traveling expenses.
Eligibility Requirements
1. The applicants should be a full-time professor (post-doctor, assistant professor, associate professor, professor) from universities or institutions cooperated with GAIAA.
2. The applicant’s research areas should be included within the above research areas, such as AI frontier theories and cross-disciplinary, basic systems, critical technologies, etc.
3. The applicants should guarantee at least one month for full-time visiting.
Application Processes
1. Program Application: The Eligible applicants could fill in the application form and submitted before 30th June 2022.
2. Application Review: The submitted materials will be read by the faculty review committee and should be understandable to the researchers.
3. Program Invitation: After the final decision were made by the faculty review committee, the invitations will be sent around 10th July- 15th July.
4. Program Planning Schedule: Applicants who received the invitation should contact GAIAA Secretariat for further information. Applicants who are not able to finish the Exchange Program within one year from the date of the invitation, the opportunities will be automatically withdrawn.
5. Program Completion: All participants are expected to complete a report of their accomplishments within a month of the program completion and to give an academic presentation. Moreover, participants will be invited to join the GAIAA Academic Funding Program Association.
