Organizers of the summer camp

This summer camp is hosted by Shanghai AI Laboratory, with the Global Artificial Intelligence Academic Alliance (GAIAA) as its undertaker and Sense Time providing technical support. The excellent works of students will be published by Magazines WXD Hands-on Electronics and i-ROBOT. 

 

Instructors of the summer camp 

Lin Dahua

He is an expert in deep learning and computer as well as a professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He has extensive research experience in computer vision, probabilistic inference and deep learning, and has got outstanding results in various topics. He has published more than 200 papers in top conferences and journals on computer vision and machine learning such as CVPR/ICCV/ECCV/NIPS/PAMI. He won the best student paper award in NIPS, the most prestigious conference on machine learning, in year 2010. He also received the outstanding reviewer awards in ICCV 2009 and ICCV 2011. He supervised or co-supervised CUHK teams in international competitions and won multiple awards in ImageNet 2016, ActivityNet 2016 & 2017, COCO 2018 & 2019. In addition, he serves as an area chair for multiple conferences, including CVPR, ECCV, BMVC, and ACM Multimedia. He also serves on the editorial board of the International Journel of Computer Vision (IJCV).

 

Lu Cewu

Lu Cewu is a professor and doctoral advisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), the class tutor of Guozhi Class, and a research fellow at Stanford University AI Laboratory working under Prof. Li Fei-Fei. In 2018, he was selected as 35 Innovators Under 35 (MIT TR35) by MIT Technology Review. In 2019, he was awarded Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar. He is a reviewer in AI for the journal Nature and Science and the area chair for CVPR 2020. 

Xie Zuoru

He is a consultant of AI Education Center at Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the head of Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Zhejiang Wenzhou High School, a “special-grade teacher” of Zhejiang Province, a “senior teacher”, one of the "Ten Thousand Teaching Masters in Zhejiang Province", the deputy director of the Modern Education Technology Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and an executive director of the Information Technology Education Committee of the China Association for Educational Technology. He is the editor-in-chief of the high school information technology textbook of Zhejiang Education Publishing House, and the deputy editor-in-chief of the information technology textbook of the experimental textbook writing group of Tsinghua University.

l Online Classes and Assessment

Content: Lectures by Scientists in Shanghai AI Lab, Dialogue with Guozhi Class, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Introduction to Deep Learning, Deep Learning for Image Classification, Solving Real World Problems with AI

Instructors: scientists at Shanghai AI Laboratory, professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, famous experts in AI education

Assessment Time: July 18th – July 24th 

Assessment Methods: CV, homework and interview

 

Offline Schedule

Time: 9:00-20:00, July 25th – July 31st 

Place: Shanghai AI Laboratory

Fee: free classes (board and lodging expenses are not covered)

Theme: Students are encouraged to carry out projects around the theme of "Artificial Intelligence for Smart Living". Each student entering the offline summer camp will receive customized guidance for his/her project, and researchers from Shanghai AI Lab will guide them through the project.
